Whereas the aviation industry is historically domiciled by domestic premier operators that fly only for the wealthy, the advent of low-cost airliners, marketed by low-cost operators, has revolutionised European aviation. Whilst the de-regulation of European low-cost carrier fares has led to an abundance of low-cost carrier fares in Europe, they can still be divided into two major groups - budgetary or tradition.

More than 30,000 business aircraft fly through Europe on a single average flight from or to a single airport in Europe. Some of these will be international services, the overwhelming bulk of which will be operated within Europe. Europe, a densely populated region with many nearby nations, is strongly linked by a wealth of relatively inexpensive services between different cities.

The 25 largest of them handle more than 20 million people a year. Europe's most frequented Continent destinations are Barcelona-El Prat, Paris-Orly, Berlin-Tegel and London-Heathrow. Paris is the most sought after tourist resort for US travellers from London amidst London airfields. From Amsterdam you can fly to most of Europe's metropolises such as London, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Berlin and Vienna. Amsterdam Schiphol is also a crossroads for Transavia and Easyjet and the Dutch carrier, KLM. In addition, Amsterdam's Schiphol International Terminal is a gateway to the Netherlands.

From Barcelona, the majority of the larger towns in Europe and most Spanish aerodromes can be reached. From Barcelona, air travel to Europe's most famous tourist attractions such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome and Madrid. Barcelona is served from El Prat International which is the gateway to Air Europa, Ryanair and Vueling and the Spanish Iberia.

Madrid services from Barajas International to destinations throughout Europe, such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin and Barcelona. Madrid's Barajas International Barajas International is an Iberia and Air Europa aviation crossroads. From Berlin, most important routes in East and West Europe are served. Berlin's Tegel International Terminal provides services to international airports and large towns in Europe, while Berlin's Schönefeld International Terminal serves low-cost carriers and their respective continental and international routes.

Berlin's Tegel Airports serves as a crossroads for Air Berlin and Eurowings. Ryanair is proud of Europe's most beloved carrier and has some 90 airlines on the continental Europe, 9 of which are based in the UK. Ireland's state-owned carrier operates national and intercontinental services. Great Britain's biggest carrier operates 700 services across the UK and Europe.

Easy-jet currently operates at 15 UK airfields, including: Flybe is a favourite short-haul carrier with 40 UK airfields and 30* Europeans. The number of flights to Europe is seasonal. This UK carrier operates six German airlines, among them Belfast, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and others. Out of the UK, there are over 200 flights to more than 200 locations.

Founded in 2003, the Spaniard low-cost carrier has its turnstiles at Barcelona El Prat and Rome Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino airports. Serving over 100 locations in Europe, Asia and Africa. It currently flies to 100 locations worldwide, with the emphasis on Europe, Asia and North America. Lufthansa: Germany's premier carrier Lufthansa is the biggest in Europe in terms of passenger traffic and aircraft fleets in conjunction with its subsidiaries Germanwings, Austrian Air, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings and others.
