Re-launched Orbitz website, offering last-minute trips every day
The Orbitz on-line holiday reservation site has a special offer for mobiles and an optimised website for travellers looking for last-minute deals. Orbitz says that 65 per cent of mobiles are booked on the same date, which shows the outstanding importance that mobiles play with fast, location-based offers.
They are available on all of the company's portable real estate, which includes iPad, iPhone, Android apps and the portable website. "Orbitz's global reach in the airline sector is an indication of where the technologies are going," said Chris Brown, VP of Prod. "Launched ten years ago, and so it is with the cell phone, where all businesses are pressing for it right now," he said.
Orbitz has made two essential adaptations to the consumer group. The revised Orbitz Website was relaunched in July 2010. As well as including the deals function, customers can now also purchase holiday packs. Orbitz's website can be accessed at http://m.orbitz.com. Customers can generate an on-line account that is linked to a customer's payment details for quicker checkout.
The results can be filtered by cost, value, range and asterisk. Besides hotel bookings, visitors can also look for rental cars and air travel. Orbitz has upgraded all of our portable objects to offer our customers unique offers. As soon as a visitor looks for something on either Orbitz's application or site, the results will show rates in some hotel that are not available on the company's website.
Mr Brown says the new wireless service will be made after they learn how their customers are booking on both smart phones andtables. Orbitz's new portable tool is designed for people looking for great value, immediate offers, which is a good Christmas policy. More than 30 per cent of Orbitz customers use either the iPad application or the company's website to make reservations for their itineraries on the same date.
By comparison, 14 per cent of desk-top viewers search for last-minute itineraries. The popularity of pills is increasing and recently many websites have intensified their trade effort to reach them. Orbitz rival Expedia, for example, has launched a tablet-specific application for iPad and Android phones (see story).
"Orbitz is being modified on the go, all of which can be done using a portable device," says Brown.
